I have a theory that the majority of cheesecake bought for shavuos ends up in the garbage (and hence eaten by the local squirrels-or whatever your local animals are). People get all excited about keeping the minhag and ended up buying, making or getting gifts of cheesecake for much more than is able to be consumed. Also, most people end up eating more fleishig than milchig meals (especially this year with one day shabbos) and hence the opportunities to consume all the cheesecake are quite limited.

    Discuss.

If you don’t like all the extra cheese cake you have then pass it on too a neighbor or friend who would all enjoy it and appreciate the nice gift you brought them

I think that the neighbors have too much too.

Forgot the stupid cheesecake and instead focus rebuilding the Mikdash so next year we can follow ALL the REAL Halachos of Shavuos, Yom Habikurim, when we bring the Mincha Chadasha.
The whole inyan of cheesecake is only to remind us of the Bikurum which is brought from the 7 species of the Land, flowing with Milk and Honey

Indeed a weighty topic, WWRAS [what would Rav Aron say] about this deep thought provoking topic?

Do you have a source for that?

There are numerous reasons why having dairy is a minuag for shavuos

    To the OP

Why is that different than food in general that numerous stores and people make in excess that gets thrown out daily

Cheesecakes should last at least a month in the refrigerator.

I freeze cheesecakes and eat cheesecake to break a fast. I have never had too much cheesecake.
I don’t think squirrels like dairy, they prefer mezonos.

Indeed, cream-cheese cheesecakes freeze beautifully, as long as they’re properly wrapped. I cut my leftovers into smaller pieces, freeze it and eat from it all summer and winter.
Farmer-cheese cheesecakes are another matter; once they’re frozen, they’ll need to be warmed up and served hot.

Daiya has an incredible vegan New York Cheesecake (with OU hashgacha) that is preferred by squirrels and other rodents.

@GH, I asked the squirrel running across my yard about Daiya, he told me he is machmir to eat the more stringent hachsayrim, he heard from his cousin in Lakewood that there is a movement in Lakewood amongst the Lakewood squirrels only to eat Cholvel Yisroel trash.

CS: Thanks for the update on the hashkafah of the New Jersey squirrel population. Its wonderful to know that in these stressful times, there are still those willing to go the extra mile to enjoy a geshmak cheesecake from trashbins with a top of the line hashgacha.

What is this thread really about? What is the hidden agenda? Is there a hidden agenda? Because there is no such thing as too much cheesecake.
