Can someone explain to me why the Torah spends so much time on the neder of a girl aged 12 to 12 1/2 in this week’s parsha.
Thank you.July 10, 2023 12:11 pm at 12:11 pm #2207106jackkParticipantYechiell,
I will add that she is 12 to 12 1/2 and also married with Kiddushin but no Nisuin yet.
And she is making Vows at this age.July 10, 2023 12:11 pm at 12:11 pm #2207115ujmParticipantWhy does this bother you? Is there a reason it should spend less time on it?

It is a valid question to understand why the torah that teaches many halachos through an extra letter adds many pesukim for a specific case. The meforshim ask this question by the repeated 5 pesukim in Parsha Naso.

as for repetition of many pesukim, on a lighter note, it’s either because the word ‘ditto’ had not yet been invented , or they didn’t have ‘cut and paste’ in those years. just a joke, folks.July 11, 2023 1:24 am at 1:24 am #2207372125 stParticipantProbably because back then every girl was in this exact situation
July 11, 2023 6:35 pm at 6:35 pm #2207604spot onParticipantDon’t make such jokes.
The girl is a few pesukim worth. The actual question as to why the whole parsha of nedarim is so long, baalei mussar say to expound on the holiness of speech. (“Lo yacheil devaro”)

A unique moment when her father is less responsible for her and the husband is not yet. L’havdil, I think butterflies have also an intermediate state between being a catrpillar and an adult – chrysalis.
