my grandfather used to play with him and run around in shul together with him – they were best friends.
My great grandfather was the Chazzan in the (father) Mattesdorfer’s shul. The “Matesdofa Roof” only allowed one person to daven there Yomim Noraim – my great grandfather – cuz he was the only one in America that knew the right ‘Nisuch’

So you have a Rebbi R’ Shmuel & another R’ Simcha Bunim, both the mattersdorfer rav?

If you mean your personal rebbi, then I am confused.
If you mean different generations in the dynasty, then I understand.

They both gave a shiur a week. The son each day and the father once a week.

Obviously the son was not called the Mattersdorfer Rav when I learned by him.

It’s our great loss of such a tzaddik and boruch Hashem since he was Niftar hes in a much better place being upstairs in the true world above.

May his neshama have an aliya

If we all do teshuva together as one loving nation begging Hashem forgiveness then we will very soon be able to greet the Mattesdorfer Rav together with Mashiach speedily

A story he shared regarding a time before his future father-in-law visited his father to speak about the proposed shidduch with his daughter, he saw his father remove from his bookcases every sefer that had his son’s name written inside. The Rav, Z’L explained that it was customary for visiting talmedei chachaim to browse through their host’s bookshelves, and he did not want to “impress” his visitor with anything that did not belong to him personally. Among his great contributions was to compile and reissue the sefarim of his grandfather, the Chasan Sofer to which he added some of his own thoughts.
    m Mishmuel.

Should be above Shem Mishmuel reflecting Rav Shmuel’s ztz’l grandfather, the Chasan Sofer whose name was also Shmuel ztz’l. His sefer Chasan Sofer was named in respect to his father Rav Dovid Zvi Ehrenfeld ztz’l who was the son in law of the Chasam Sofer ztz’l. It also stands for חידושי תורת נכד סופר.
There heard a story where he was a business man with a grocery store. The customers were impressed as he and his son were arguing on a Meharsha.

Gadol, maybe the father removed the seforim for the tznius of his son?! As one is allowed to hide knowledge of a maseches – a sefer with his son’s name will give away what the son learnt?!

In solemn tones we gather here today,
To honor a soul who’s passed away,
With heavy hearts and tearful eyes,
We bid farewell to one so wise.

The Mattersdorfer Rav, a guiding light,
A beacon of knowledge shining bright,
Hagaon HaRav Simcha Bunim, we mourn,
Whose teachings and wisdom we’ve all borne.

A member of Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah,
A pillar of faith, revered evermore,
In America, he held a lofty seat,
    Agudas Yisroel, his wisdom sweet.

Rosh Yeshivah of Chasan Sofer’s fame,
In Boro Park, his teachings aflame,
With diligence and passion, he would impart,
The treasures of Torah, deep in each heart.

Son of Rav Shmuel, the previous Rav,
A legacy of leadership he bravely grabbed,
Yeshivas Chasan Sofer, his father’s dream,
In Brooklyn, a place where Torah would gleam.

    Kiryat Mattersdorf, a neighborhood fair,
In Jerusalem, his vision he’d share,
He carried the lineage of Chasam Sofer’s grace,
    A great-great-great-grandson, a noble embrace.

Brother to Rav Akiva, sisters dear,
Whose lives intertwined, their bond sincere,
Rav Shmuel Binyomin Fisher and Paler too,
Rav Simcha Schustal, Cohen, and Kagan, all true.

Now the time has come to say goodbye,
As his soul takes flight, reaching the sky,
The levayah shall commence, a solemn hour,
At Yeshivas Chasan Sofer, our spirits dour.

In Boro Park, we gather, hearts entwined,
To honor this Rav, deeply enshrined,
But his journey doesn’t end on these shores,
To Eretz Yisroel, his soul now soars.

Boruch Dayan HaEmmes, we humbly say,
Accept our prayers as we bow and pray,
May Rav Simcha Bunim find eternal rest,
    Amongst the righteous, divinely blessed.

His teachings and legacy shall forever shine,
In hearts and minds, his wisdom enshrined,
Though he may have left this earthly plane,
His spirit lives on, forever to sustain.

As a talmid of Rav Paler ztz’l, a taste of the yeshiva in the understanding of the meaning of שומע כעונה where it cannot mean that hearing is like saying as if one says what they hear at megilla leining as there is a problem of where is the sefer, the megilla? So it must be that one is saying not his own words but the words that the baal koreh is saying who has a megilla. Rav Noach Isaac Shlita, also a talmid, points out that by birchas kohaim where one kohen can be motzei another but he must lift his hand as this is not a requirement of the mitzva but a personal physical requirement.

It’s absolutely scary to see one of the writers on this blog, none other than ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence robot !
It did a beautiful job, poetically no less. But it scares the daylight out of me !
ChatGPT could just as easily send letters and essays to sway an election, or to bad-mouth people, or Heaven knows what future evils it can concoct !
