Thursday, Gimmel Tammuz 5783 Year of Hakhel (June 22, 2023), marks the 29th yahrtzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, HaRav Menachem Mendel Schneerson זי”ע.
The days surrounding the Yartheit, 3 Tammuz on the Hebrew calendar, are being marked by people in every corner of the world who have been touched by the Rebbe’s love, his profound teachings and by the 6,000 Shluchim couples he sent to invigorate and revitalize Jewish life in more than 100 countries and thousands of cities.
Communities are holding gatherings and farbrengens on or close to the date, and 50,000 people are expected to visit the Ohel, the Rebbe’s resting place in Queens, N.Y., in the days leading up to and on the third of Tammuz. In keeping with the Rebbe’s lifetime goals and teachings, people throughout the world have been participating in prayers, lectures, gatherings, tributes and the additional performance of good deeds in the Rebbe’s memory.
In addition to the many thousands expected to visit in-person, many around the world will send in their personal prayer petitions by email to be delivered to the Ohel. Staff print thousands of papers and tear them—to protect the petitioner’s privacy—before placing them at the Ohel, where they join a massive mound of papers. Periodically, staff collect the papers and burn them as per the Rebbe’s instructions.

How much was Lubavitch charged for this advertisement?
“Communities are holding gatherings and farbrengens on or close to the date”
Should be “Chabad-Lubavitch communities are holding gatherings and farbrengens on or close to the date”
Wow, impressively coordinated, not hefkeirus!
Neshama about have an Aliya!
A very special Tzadik.
Oops,
“Neshama should have an Aliya”
Oh, I wish I would’ve followed my heart to see him even once! The shunning against going to other rebbes (in my days), especially Chabad, too away this advantage from me!
Lemayseh, you bored or Stam a loser?
The closest religion to Judaism today. Notice the taking off of shoes as if you’re on the temple mount. And notice the booze being given to a child who is definitely not even 16.
Why is a Yeshivish news site promoting this? Young people who see these photos and read the praises you heap upon MMS are liable to conclude that all this is permissible ע”פ התורה. I usually abstain from opining on Lubavitch since for several reasons I am a נוגע בדבר. However, the over-the-top, totally excessive way in which you fawn over Lubavitch in this, and some other articles calls for a response.
It is disgusting what some people are writing in the comments. Nasty. Who do you people think you are to attack the holy Kehillah of Lubavitch ubefrat the Lubavitcher Rebbe Zecher Tzaddik Vekadosh vetahor Levracha! Because one Rose Yeshiva said some things? The Torah tells us יחיד ורבים הלכה כרבים. The Gedolim all had tremendous respect for the Rebbe. Look in the Igros Moshe for the titles Reb Moshe gives the rebbe! Look at what Baba Sali said! Look at what all the Gedolim said! Why all the hate?! Who do you people think you are to attack the Rebbe and his Kehillah???!!! I don’t care what your rosh yeshiva said!!! Reb Moshe was the Mara Deasra, and he supported Lubavitch! I don’t believe any of you think that your rosh yeshiva is greater than Reb Moshe. It is a tremendous Chutzpah being done here and I hope YWN will remove some of the Sinah in the comment section!
YWN is now posting pictures of nashim?
Ari Knobler, 1. Is ywn only a site for yeshivish news? That thousands of Jews of all segments of klal Yisroel visit the kever of a tzadik is not news? Do you comment when ywn posts articles about Elon Musk or just about Chabad because you hate those who’s shita you disagree with?
2. It is incredible how seemingly frum Jews can be so hate filled towards other Jews? When you daven and say ברכינו אבינו כולנו כאחד, do you mean it?
Pictures of nashim is a valid concern but also the commentators zilzel in a tzaddik vk”l, especially that mad ballei teshuva is incomprehensible!
How many people just sit and think coffee and do nothing other than caring about themselves and their nice houses. Shame on all that are talking so negatively about the tzaddik!
I believe it was the late Satmer Rov who said something similar to: The Tzadikim and Chasidim have their disagreements. It’s the v’lamalshinim who mess things up.
This is a huge gathering of Jews and I understand why YW published this article. At the same time, Lubavitch has separated themselves from the “mainstream” so I understand why it may have been better to let Matziv have this one. Either way, I understand.
However, we must appreciate that even though Rav Shach felt that the Lubavitch mishechist movement was avodah zorah, he still davened for the Lubavitch Rebbe and felt that, despite the differences, we are all yiddin.
