To emphasize what was reiterated so many times….
I had a conversation with a Chabad bachur many years ago when I was a young impretionable bachur myself. We were sitting next to each other in an airport. I had a sefer with me (Derech Hashem from the Ramchal) and this chabd bachur who was a few years my senior started making deragetory comments against the sefer and litvishe Yeshiva bachurim in general.
I was very shaken up and tried not to get confrontational with him and told him that I just know what we are told by our Gedolim…
His retort which still repulses me 25 plus years later was…
“Do you mean the “Gedolim” of Siman Gimmel in Shulchan Aruch?”
I think everyone can understand the meaning and depravity of that comment told to a young innocent 17 year old Yeshiva boy trying to mind his own buisness.
But of course this was all in the name of saving a poor lost soul from eternal Snag damnation.

Rav Yerucham Z”L writes that a person today can be learning a sefer from someone many generations ago and little does he know that he is bigger than the writer of the sefer.
amiricanyeshivishParticipantWondering if I have teen drivers who are mostly in oot Yeshiva dorm but legaly live in my house do I have to put them on policy?
I am asking this in a legal/halachic sense and also what happens if I didn’t (which is the case so far) what will happen if ch”v an accident?July 18, 2023 11:08 pm at 11:08 pm in reply to: YWN Coffee Room in 50 Years: A Trip up Memory Lane #2209455amiricanyeshivishParticipantIs that just a more sophisticated way of saying what I kvetched about that you feel left out?

amiricanyeshivishParticipantBesides Dr Suess. He was a Gaon even lmaan deomar he was an antisemite.
“the Places You will Go” and “The Lorax” are mammesh mussar seforimJuly 16, 2023 6:46 pm at 6:46 pm in reply to: Dreaming About Listening to Music During the Three Weeks #2208785amiricanyeshivishParticipantOf course not. But if someone finds he “can’t” keep Shabbos anymore he is by defenition not frum. But if he “can’t” eat cholov yisroel that is not the case. The same would be about the Yeshiva guy who “can’t” wear a hat and jacket or the Satmar guy who starts eating OU.
I was told of someone who was looking desperatly erev Yom Kippur for a chicken for kapporres and wouldn’t hear the tzad to use money, but was saying he doesn’t plan on fasting because “Hashem loves me and for sure doesn’t care if I fast or not”
When we start mixing up minhagim with chiyuvei krissus it gets a bit mishkebabal and we lose focus on what’s a frum Jew and what is not.
July 16, 2023 2:01 pm at 2:01 pm in reply to: Dreaming About Listening to Music During the Three Weeks #2208735amiricanyeshivishParticipantAnd so is fasting on !7 Tammuz and 9 BeAv not deoiraissa.
I say this because i find it important to diffrenciate. I know of a Chabad person who went OTD because she ate Cholov Stam and then threw in the towel (nebach) because anyways she did an aveirah….

I can’t figure out if you are joking or serious about the tattoos.
Just to point out the obvious…tattoos are an issur deoiraisa….listening to music in 3 weeks is derabanan.

July 10, 2023 11:48 pm at 11:48 pm in reply to: The Five Most Likeliest Candidates to be Moshiach #2207359amiricanyeshivishParticipantEven leshitoscho that Mashiach’s job is to teach Elokus why can’t that be done with Ramchal or Sifrei Hagroh? Did the sifrei Chabad put a copywrite on understanding Elokus? Do you think Kabbalah was invented in Lebavitch? The Rishoinim had the Keballah and the Sefardim wrote numerous Kabballah seforim.
Besides saying “Chassidus” and referring only to sifrei Chabad is offensive to all the other Chassideshe seforim. Are they not also “Chassidus”??? Where they pashut not understanding their Rebbe the Baal Shem and the Mezritcher? Only the Baal Hatanya and his descentants understood it?amiricanyeshivishParticipantI agree with Jackk on a practical level but we know famously from Rav Miller Zatzal that he held voting Democrat is a Chilul Hashem. And we can’t make cheshbonos when it comes to chilul Hashem.
If you can’t get yourself to vote for the idiot on the Republican ballot I fully understand. But then rather don’t vote at all.
amiricanyeshivishParticipantUNBELEIVABLE!!!
Avira the Litvak and Menachem Shmei the Chabadnik agreed on something and almost used the same wording!
Moshiach must be coming….although they disagree who that is….July 3, 2023 1:20 pm at 1:20 pm in reply to: Reason for the Spanish Expulsion & Inquisition: Secular Education #2205208amiricanyeshivishParticipantYour interpetation is definetely the pshat that meets the eye “al pe derech hatevah” but Chassid Yaavetz was referring to the underlying cause what brought so many Yidden to convert r”l an more why did HKB”H bring the gzeira in the first place.
Similarly to the Neis Purim which is a natural chain of events but Chazal tell us it was because they partook in Achashveirosh’s seudah and/or they bowed to Nevuchanetzar’s tzelem.
After all we know “lev melachim ve’sarim beyad Hashem”amiricanyeshivishParticipantYechiell

amiricanyeshivishParticipantCan someone clarify for the ignorant.
Pro Shabbos observance won or the opposite?amiricanyeshivishParticipantI think Trump is Moshiach. He is ben achar ben from Dovid Hamelech. He just doesn’t know it.
And he is still alive.
And he moved the embassy to Yerushelaim.
Defenitly more than any Rebbe did.
And he has kids to be yoitze the Rambam.
And they are even Jewish. Maybe.

That is your mistake. We all love all Jews and hope Chabad does too. The arguments are about Hashkofos not the people or even their life choices.
amiricanyeshivishParticipantRav Moshe Feinstein Zatzal is quoted in saying
“Frum is a gallach, a Yid darf zein Ehrlich”
Translated “A preist is Frum, a Yid has to be Ehrlich”June 20, 2023 1:14 am at 1:14 am in reply to: Chabad Inspires all Jews to Yearn for Mashiach #2201404amiricanyeshivishParticipantThe quote from Chofetz Chaim about the Gra’s cherem only applies today on Chabad and Breslov was said by Rav Elya Lopian in his name. I have heard from people who heard it from Rav Mattisyahu Salomon Shlita who heard it directly from Rav Elya Lopian.
amiricanyeshivishParticipantI didn’t mean Reb Eliezer
amiricanyeshivishParticipantThank you Avira
And for the others who had nothing smart to say thank you for letting me know.amiricanyeshivishParticipantIt seems like I am not the only one who can’t find the mekor. lol
Also wondering how old this minhag is? Do we find such words in Chazal for wellwishing? I know we say it by Kiddush Levanah but couldn’t find source for that either…..amiricanyeshivishParticipantAnd same with Palestinians and Palestine
amiricanyeshivishParticipantThey are barely any left. Yemach Shmoi took care of that 85 years ago. All “Litvishe” today are either full blooded Hungarians, Romanians, Yekkes or a mix. Almost all minus the Yekkes and Oberlanders shtam from Chassidim. They just learned in “Litvish” yeshivos.
But real blue blooded “Litivise” barely exist. Same with the Poilisher. Almost the whole Ger Chassidus hails from Hungary etc.amiricanyeshivishParticipantMods can you make a vote about who from those that voted for Trump would vote for him again or now vote for other Rep candidate or switch totally to Biden
amiricanyeshivishParticipantWhy do Chabanicks call people from the Yeshiva world “snags”?
Isn’t that meant as a derogetory name?
Wouldn’t that be quite opposite from their “Achdus” shittah?
I mean if they can respect all nonjewish people wouldn’t it be ok to give some decent respect to fellow Jews?
Or is it because they are great great grandchildren of the one who “sic” put the Baal Hatanya in jail? Please explain. Really trying to understand.
June 1, 2023 3:04 pm at 3:04 pm in reply to: Chabad Inspires all Jews to Yearn for Mashiach #2194866amiricanyeshivishParticipantThe fact is you can go into many large chabad centers/shuls and barely find a full set of shas. Somtimes an old disregarded old print Choson Shas someone gave away due to lack of interest. Rav Elya Svei Zatztal lamented about this 20 plus years ago in a drosho in Lakewood when being maspid Rav Aaaron Zatzal. Its a fact. Go check yourself. I’v seen it and you can too.
June 1, 2023 3:04 pm at 3:04 pm in reply to: Chabad Inspires all Jews to Yearn for Mashiach #2194868amiricanyeshivishParticipantI was in one chabad huge shul where they had a whole library of sichos and books all about the Rebbe Shlita and one set of Shulchan Aruch Harav hidden away. A bunch of Rambams in many languages and one old never used set of shas on bottom shelf covered in dust.
Its as if torah shel baal pe has been taken over by the Rebbe,s sichos and nothing else exists . BH they spared the Rambam from the dustbin.amiricanyeshivishParticipantNeville
In the Rebbe’s liftime? He still is alive! Just “neelam” for the time being. Com’on someone debating Chabad gotta know that 🙂
amiricanyeshivishParticipantReally interesting to hear all this backround info. I just joined couple of months ago. This is really facsinating. Thank you Neville.

amiricanyeshivishParticipantAvira, Dofi, and Dorah
you guys defenitley have one thing in common…..
you take yourselves and your shittos (or prejudices) a bit too seriously. Chill out!!!

So he must of killed Saddam Hussein too. Probably Osama Bin Ladin too. And Hitler YM”SH was probably killed by the Riat”z.

That very well may be true, but Rav Miller’s main issue wasn.t the people of the Democratic party rather their anti Torah veiws of liberalism and decadence of morality. Not the actions of some goyim but the ideology that we are voting for by voting Democrat he held was a huge chillul hashem to endorce.April 16, 2023 7:31 pm at 7:31 pm in reply to: Mass shootings, and non mass shootings, must stop. #2181357amiricanyeshivishParticipantI fully agree with you. I was just commenting on participant’s idea of torture for shooter which doesn’t work well for people who are already dead.
Personally I think 2nd Ammenment should be abolished. It’s totally outdated.April 16, 2023 5:05 pm at 5:05 pm in reply to: Mass shootings, and non mass shootings, must stop. #2181338amiricanyeshivishParticipantThe shooter is usually dead by end of shooting spree
April 16, 2023 5:05 pm at 5:05 pm in reply to: After Biden sent $1 billion to the PLO, Israeli deaths rose 900% #2181339amiricanyeshivishParticipantRav Miller said numerous times that it is assur and a huge chillul hashem to vote democrat. You can be moicha on his kavod all you want but he would of said rather to not make a chillul hashem than be busy with your nareshkaiten.
amiricanyeshivishParticipantIf every yungerman is Rabbi than a Rav needs to be Harav Hagoen. The Rosh Yeshivas are now Hagoen Hagodol. And the highest in the hierchy are Sar Hatorah.

Price. Seemingly that was even in Chazal’s time, just in the opposite. After all it is lechem oni 🙂amiricanyeshivishParticipantFlamingBT
About the math I plead the 5th.
About Trump I disagree.
About the critisizim of frum yidden I 100% agree.
It is dispicable and nausiating to see how some frum yidden are willing to publicly smear another frum yid in public. And of course it’s only leshaim shomayim.
